Open RQC colloquium. Lecture 39

The Thirty Ninth lecture "Spin currents - from spintronics to spin-orbitronics" in Open RQC Colloquium will be held in National University of Science and Technology MISIS (Moscow, Leninsky Avenue, 4) lecture hall № Б-534 (5th floor), on 20th of April 2018 at 10:00 a.m by Konstantin Zvezdin, Head of the applied project "Spintronics" of Russian Quantum Center, Senior Research Fellow at I.M. Prokhorov General Physics Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.


Spintronic devices controlled by spin-transfer torques (STT) have attracted great attention of physicists and engineers in the context of development of the energy-efficient components for nanoelectronics. These devices may lead to the significant progress in such wide technological areas as data storage and processing, sensoristics, information and communication technologies. The emerging trend here is to use the spin-orbit (SO) torques, enablig the concept of spintronics controlled by "pure" spin-currents, which do not imply charge transfer through the spintronic device. We will discuss our results on both SO and STT spintronic developments, such as logic devices, memory, frequency synthesizers and spin-diode detectors. 


Konstantin Zvezdin got the M.Sc. degree at Moscow State University in 1998, and obtained his PhD degree at Prokhorov General Physics Institute in 2001, where he continued as a Senior Research Scientist.  Konstantin has spent 5 years in Fiat Research Center, working mainly on industrial applications of spintronics within several EC-funded projects. At 2015 he joined Russian Quantum Center as applied spintronics project leader. Konstantin is the author of more than 50 scientific publications on spintronics.
